This is a well known profitable child day care center located in East Memphis which has been established for 20 years. The present owners stared this center in May of 1989 and have been the sole operators during this period. The center consists of 1.8 acres of land and two separate buildings (one building 3,000 square feet and the other building is 3,100 square feet). Originally operated as an Optimist Club facility, the present owners purchased the property in the early eighties and converted it to a child day care facility. The center is licensed for 99 children with a current enrollment of 85: 79 regular full time children and six part time or occasional children. Thirty six of the kids enrolled are sponsored by the DHS: $11,000 per month to the center for their care. The center provides care for children from 6 weeks to 51 1/2years old. The teacher to student to ratio is set up in the following manner: 6 weeks to 1 year 1 (2) to 4(8) at $140 per week 1 year to 21/2 1 to 7 21/2 to 31/2 1 to 9 (these two groups have 28 kids at $125 per week) 31/2 to 41/2 1 to 13 41/2 to 51/2 1 to 20 (these two groups have 43 kids at 110 per week) The only advertisement is a listing in the yellow pages. The owners receive and average food voucher of $3,500 per month from the government to feed the children. Owners do not provide transportation for the kids; the parents are responsible to get their kids to and from the center. They are in their seventies and are ready to retire. Center grossed $380,000 in 2008 and 2009.
