Business for Sale Overview:
This is a very profitable 12 year old transportation and trucking business operating a fleet of three (3) tractors with refrigerated trailers, located in an office adjacent to owner's home in the Burbank/Glendale area of Los Angeles. Operations consist of transporting fresh produce and seafood from California to the east coast, returning to the west with a full load of mostly non-refrigerated merchandise.
All aspects of the company are handled by the owner in only a few hours per day from his relocatable office. All knowledge of business is easily transferable to a new owner.
The five trucks and refrigerated trailers in use are listed on an Equipment List and are valued at $231,000. Two are fully owned and one is leased. At the end of the lease, company buys the each truck for $100. Selling price includes truck and trailer leases being paid off - approximately $85,000. As an option, buyer, may assume leases and deduct the amount owing from selling price.
In 2007, the three trucks create gross revenue of $1,029,000 as follows:
Truck #65 $202,000
Truck #99 $205,000
Truck #84 $215,000
TOTAL $622,000
Revenue per truck is conservatively valued at $615,000 for 3 trucks
As previously stated the trucks primarily haul fresh produce cross-country from California to the Northeast, hauling dry goods on the return trip. In the summer, each truck makes 2 ½ to 3 runs per month; in the winter only 2. Rates for hauling produce west to east average $6400, with the return trip averaging $2,400. However the west to east rates for produce are substantially higher in the summer and fall months. The return trip rates are relatively constant. Drivers are paid on a per trip basis, not per mile.
