Business for Sale Overview:
Our client is a highly successful light manufacturing company producing custom countertops primarily for the home improvement market. It provides home improvement stores and contractors customized countertops in self edge and post form laminates and solid surface countertops in Corian and HiMacs. Its offerings are presented in a large number of Lowe’s Home Improvement Stores and Home Depot stores with exclusive agreements with several of those outlets. It has numerous other agreements with well-known independent home improvement or kitchen/bath outlets throughout the state. The Company has been in business for almost ten years with consistent sales growth. It has a well-established workforce (8) with a plant manager and two supervisors who are expected to continue their employment. It has purposely stayed away from the very high-end stone (granite and marble) counter tops, most of which are sold into the new home construction market which is severely depressed today. By growing the company through traditional home improvement outlets it has not been impacted as much as those companies serving the new home construction industry. As individuals decide to improve their current home rather than buy a new one, or perhaps replace a bath or kitchen themselves, they will typically order a pre-fabricated but custom counter top rather than build one, which the Company believes is in their market “sweet spot”. And both contractors and home “do-it-yourselves” will obtain their countertops at places like Lowe’s, Home Depot or the many independent and locally established home improvement outlets.
