Property Features and Assets:
At a cost of about $18,000 the Chicago & Northwestern railway built this depot in 1904. Passenger service was abandoned in 1976. The interior of the building is furnished in antique oak and hard yellow pine, and with hardwood floors. Most of the original fixtures, cabinetry, woodwork, flooring, and windows still remain. The building was originally steam heated but was recently modernized with a gas-forced air furnace. It originally contained two separated waiting rooms – one for ladies and one for the gents. It has a frame on stone foundation, with a partial basement. The long and narrow lot measures just 39 feet wide and 355 feet in length. 2008 property taxes were only $1,688.
