Business was started in 1961 by my parents. They both retired 14 years ago and I have been the sole owner and operator since their retirement. This last fiscal year looks like it may be my most profitable to date if I have a good 4th quarter. I have turned a profit every year I have been in business. The store is located in a town of 985 people, very nice small community with a school and 2 churches. The hardest decision was to leave the people but I have been working at the same location for the past 35 years and wish to move to a bigger city and try something different. I have great employees who have been with me a minimum of 7 years to some who have been with me the full 14 years. The business is profitable and has great community support, it is just time for me to make a change. The front of the building is brick with the roof and sides being metal, it is connected to an adjacent building of the same size that has a flower and gift shop located in it. We are located right in the middle of town across the street from our city park. Building and fixtures are all in good shape. Plenty of customer parking in front of store with vendor entrance on side of building.
Market Competition and Expansion:
The closest competition is 10 miles away in a town of I believe is 7800. There is a Hy-Vee, a County Market and an Aldi's located there. Our meat counter is our specialty and I have deliveries to that town to 6 different bars and restaurants. The building is land locked with really no room for expansion but none is really needed.
