Offered for sale are 36 claims of semi-precious stone known as honeycomb onyx or amber onyx. The first claims were established in 1995 to explore for emerald crystals. During this exploration, a large, unique calcite deposit was discovered and found to be a beautiful stone itself. With workers and equipment prepared and working, this mine is a turnkey operation for new owners to step in and assume operations. By implementing more efficient processes, owners will be able to further increase the output of the mine and improve return on investment.
Current geological surveys estimate 2,590,000 tons of amber onyx are in the claims. Currently, the mine sells its 5’X5’X8’ blocks for an average of $25,000. Smaller stones,
ranging up to 100 pounds, are sold for approximately $0.45 per pound.
