Four Franchises Are Better Than One…
Carvel, Nathan's Famous, Saladworks and Fantastic Sams Target
Long Island for Franchise Development, Plan to Open Combined 200 Locations
LONG ISLAND, NY - While many franchise systems work solo to develop brands nationwide, four of the world's top franchise systems have teamed to target the Long Island market as one. Carvel, Nathan's Famous, Saladworks and Fantastic Sams have announced plans to open more than 200 locations throughout the greater Long Island area.
The foursome will host a Road Show Tour seminar for interested franchisee candidates at 7 p.m. March 28 at the Huntington Hilton, 598 Broadhollow Rd (RT 110), Melville, NY 11747.
With 212 locations already spread throughout Long Island, New York City and the state of New York, Carvel plans to open 30 more locations throughout the area, including Long Beach, Cedarhurst, Inwood, Maspeth Queens, Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. The 570-unit franchise, known worldwide for its famous ice cream cakes, will focus on creating smaller satellite locations and co-branding with other established brands, while building upon its strong product line.
"We see the potential for more than 30 of these locations throughout the area," said Ray Torres, Regional Vice President of Franchise & Foodservice Sales for Carvel. "Our Thinny Thin line of no-fat products is the best tasting no-fat product out there. I see this being a very large part of the menu offering in Manhattan development."
Nathan's Famous is no stranger to the area, as the all beef hot dog concept was born in Brooklyn in 1916 and built its legs on Long Island. With more than 200 restaurants spread across New York and the country, Nathan's plans to open 25 new restaurants throughout Long Island and Manhattan during the next 12 months.
"Long Island has proven to be one of our most successful markets," said Randy Watts, Nathan's Vice President of Franchise Operations. "The fact that we are under saturated in this market presents a significant opportunity for our company and for future franchise partners."
Saladworks, a national fresh-tossed salad 79-unit franchise concept, is no stranger to the east coast, as its headquarters are located right outside of Philadelphia. Additionally, the fresh franchise operates in seven states throughout the Eastern United States, and has set plans to open 30 locations on Long Island, 30 in the Boroughs.
"We are very excited about growing the brand in the New York market," said Steve Beagelman, Senior Vice President and Chief Franchising Officer of the Conshohocken-based franchise. "New Yorkers are very conscious about what they eat and Saladworks provides good quality food like salads, wraps, panini and soups, which are the perfect products to have in that market."
With 30 salons open or in development throughout the state of New York, Fantastic Sams Hair Salons is primed to develop 80 locations throughout Long Island, Manhattan and the Boroughs during the next few years, said Jeff Sturgis, Vice President of Franchise Sales and Development for the 1400-unit hair salon franchise.
"The New York metropolitan area, and particularly Long Island, represents a unique opportunity for the growth of our brand," Sturgis said. "This market is one of the few major markets where we are not currently represented. We are looking for multi-unit franchises and area developers who have the business experience and financial strength to develop three or more salons."
Together, the four franchise systems plan to open more than 200 locations throughout the greater Long Island and New York City areas and even more throughout the state of New York.
