To ensure that the management team of every OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE franchise is prepared for the running of the restaurant all managers are required to complete the company's training program, which involves 20-24 weeks of on the job training in an existing OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE restaurant.

The average size of an OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE restaurant ranges from 4,000 to 6,000 square feet and has seating for approximately 170 to 250 or more guests, and features a dining room and a separate bar area. The interior is designed to create a casual and relaxed atmosphere and features rich wood finishes and furnishings, large booths and tables. Each restaurant has its own unique display of "Down Under" Australian memorabilia and décor accents such as Aboriginal artwork and representations of Aussie wildlife, all reminiscent of the "Outback".
