Tom Caltrider, after living in Maui, HI for 9 years, is now based in Denver, CO, and is Manager Director of Hawaii Business Sales (“HBS”), a Hawaii focused business broker and Managing Director of Corporate Development Capital, LLC, (“CDC”), a Colorado based SEC/FINRA regulated broker-dealer and investment bank. He focuses on helping business in the areas of business valuation, business exit planning, mergers and acquisitions, raising debt or equity capital and advisory services. Beginning in 2006, Tom started HBS in Maui, Hawaii and from then until 2010 he was associated with VR Mergers & Acquisitions, the global leader in business brokerage, for whom he led their Maui office. During this tenure, he was recognized by VR as one of their top 10 global producers and has sold various types of Maui businesses. In 2010, he started his own Maui based firm. Beginning in 2011, Tom joined CDC, a boutique investment bank based in Colorado Springs, CO, as their Denver based Managing Director. All securities related activities are conducted through CDC, a member of FINRA and SIPC, and Tom is a registered representative holding FINRA 63 and 79 licenses. Before forming his own business brokerage firm in 2006 on Maui, Tom garnered 29 years of very broad business leadership experience. His last corporate position was as Senior Vice President of Johns Manville Corporation in Denver, CO, responsible for its $1 billion fiberglass insulation business. Prior to that: he was President, CEO and Vice Chairman of Gundle Environmental Services in Houston, TX, a $250 million revenue plastics manufacturing and international construction firm; Vice President of GE Plastics Pacific based in Singapore, a large international plastics resin supplier; General Manager, Petrochemicals for GE Plastics in Pittsfield, MA, a $5 billion producer of plastics, chemicals, petrochemicals, silicones, electro-materials and synthetic diamonds, and, Vice President & General Manager of Petrochemicals and Materials for Borg-Warner Chemicals in Parkersburg, WV, a $1.3 billion producer of plastics, specialty chemicals and petrochemicals. As a senior leader in these companies, Tom was an integral part of the sale of Borg-Warner Chemicals to General Electric, a $2.5 billion transaction in 1988; the acquisition of SLT Environmental and its subsequent merger with Gundle Environmental in 1995; and the sale of Johns Manville to Berkshire Hathaway in 2001. Tom has served on several company boards including Gundle Environmental, Inc., Cos-Mar, Inc., Ube Cycon, LTD. (Tokyo), and Geismar Ethylene, and on several nonprofit and industry trade association boards including Alliance to Save Energy, North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (as chairman), Petrochemical Energy Group, National Petrochemical and Refiners Association (Petrochemical committee) and Maui’s Lokahi Pacific Rural Development, Inc. Tom received an MBA from Ohio University, attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and has a BS in business (honors) from the University of Maryland. Tom received the Certified Business Intermediary (“CBI”) designation from the International Business Brokers Association and the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (“CEPA”) designation from the Exit Planning Institute. Tom has a strong background in general business leadership, sales, marketing, finance, business development, government relations, supply chain management, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, exit planning, business valuation and advisory services.
