Business Overview:

This business has huge growth potential in the emerging cannabis industry. The current owner has done all the heavy lifting for a new owner to come in and grow the business. Acquiring the Illinois Cannabis Transporter License was a yearlong process that included an extensive application process, a required online course, training program, fingerprinting and background check. Additionally, this business comes with a fleet of 3 transportation vehicles, a 2019 Ford Transit Connect Cargo and two 2018 Dodge Promaster Vans.
When the opportunity to own a company in the cannabis industry became available, the current owner diligently attended meetings with groups focused on the cannabis industry to learn how to become a licensed cannabis business in the state of Illinois. Then she determined the company's name, registered the company as an LLC in the state of Illinois, applied for an EIN and established a team of consultants to support with completing several applications required to hold a license to transport cannabis. Additionally, there is a required online course, training program, fingerprinting and background check the current owner completed and passed.
Direct competitors are established dispensaries that have been in the field for years and sell medicinal and recreational cannabis.

There is new legislation being proposed to allow transportation of cannabis across state lines and for cannabis home delivery. Legislation in the state of Illinois was proposed by Dem. House Rep Sonya to remove language from the existing state statute “prohibiting dispensing organizations from transporting cannabis to residences or other locations where purchasers may be for delivery,” while providing “that dispensing organizations may deliver cannabis or cannabis-infused products to purchasers if specified requirements are met.”

The bill was referred to the state House rules committee on February 18, 2022.
