Business Overview:
Highlights of Business
• Business is well established
• #1 selling craft beer for their distributor
• Craft beer market grew 4% last year while beer market as a whole fell 1%
History of Business
The brewery was founded over five years ago and found strong success in the region.
The owner passed away unexpectedly leaving the business and real estate to his two adult children. The children do not live in Missouri and have never worked in any brewing business. They wish to transition the business to someone that will continue their father’s vision and legacy.
Growth Opportunities
There are opportunities to expand sales geographically by partnering with distributors outside the current market. The addition of an upgraded canning line and/or fermentation tanks would allow for additional volume, lines of distribution and broader geographic distribution. The brewery only spent about 2.7% of sales on advertising in 2018 so additional investment here could yield greater returns as well. There is space on the east end of the building where the founder envisioned a kitchen/catering space.
Employees
The staff consists of two full-time brewers and a part-time tap room manager. The head brewer has agreed to stay with the brewery until it sells. After the brewery sells, the head brewer would be available to the new owner as an independent consultant.
Customers and Markets Served
The brewery distributes their beer to multiple counties the help of a local distributor. The Tap Room draws customers primarily from a five-mile radius.
Products and Services Offered
The brewery offers a variety of craft beers to the public through their own tap room and on tap at many area restaurants and bars. They have several flagship beers which are sold year-round as well as a variety of seasonal and specialty beers which change periodically.
The tap room is open 5 days a week and often features live music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The event center is by appointment only and can be booked for private parties and events. Occasionally, the room is used by the brewery for its own special events or musical acts that draw larger crowds than the tap room can accommodate.
