Business Overview:

Drycleaner located in Nasa area surrounded by many office, residential and commercial areas. A husband/wife team have owned and managed this business for 21 years and have now decided to retire. This cleaner does not have a plant - it subs out the actual cleaning to a nearby plant. Approximately 35% of the revenue is from in-store drop-off by customers and 65% is from pick-up and delivery to residential (80%) and commercial (20%) customers within a 5 -7 mile radius. The charge for pick-up and delivery is normally 10% -15% higher than the drop-off price. Owner works only about 5 hours/day for 3 days/week doing pick-up and delivery. New owner could substantially increase revenue by doing pick-up and delivery 5 days/week. Owner also spends about 1 hr/day taking clothes between the store and the plant which are only 5 miles apart. One full-time employee works 40 hrs/week manning the shop. Owner’s spouse works the shop during the hours the full-time employee is off. The revenue is split 70% for the shop and 30% for the plant. Alterations are also offered with some minor work done inside the shop and other jobs sent out with a split of 65% for the shop and 35% for the alteration provider. This is a full price cleaner: dresses cost about $6.25, blouses $3.99, pants $3.60, 2-piece suits $7.50, shirts $3.50. About 90% of the payments are by credit cards and checks. Strong customer base keeps returning due to excellent customer service maintained over many years.
