Fanci Freez exists in only two locations in Boise and Meridian, Idaho. Each store is independent and family-owned and operates under its own LLC (Boise Shake Company, LLC and Fanci Freez Meridian, LLC). Note: It is shown online as “Fanci Freez Burgers and Shakes” only to better fit search-engine criteria.  Fanci Freez has been in existence since 1947 and (we believe) we are the 6th owners.
While Fanci Freez originally was a soft-serve ice cream-only business. Owners in the 1970s added a kitchen where typical American diner food is prepared and sold (burgers, chicken and other fried food (see website). We are a drive-thru and “walk-up” concept with no dining room in the original location and offer a dining room experience to the drive-thru in the Meridian location. We are best known for our milkshakes and soft-serve ice cream products. We offer roughly 50 flavors of shakes including: real fruit, candy, chocolate and premium mix-ins.
We are open 7 days a week from 11a until 9p, with hours till 10p on Friday and Saturday. We typically operate with longer summer hours on weekend nights for several months of the year. We adjust our employee levels depending on the time of year, we range between 40 and 65 employees (full and part-time).
An iconic Boise business, Fanci Freez has won awards and is mentioned in the Idaho Statesman “Boise Favorites” and Boise Weekly’s Best Of community awards for years. We win or are placed in the top finalists in many cases. Generations come back and bring their kids and grandkids to enjoy a treat.
