The basics:
- Mindy’s Munchies adding stores in Morristown, Midland Park
- Handmade chocolates and desserts available for pick-up, delivery
- Midland Park location to include party room for local events
- Brand launched franchise model in fall 2024
After launching a franchise program last fall, Bergen County-based chocolate-covered dessert company Mindy’s Munchies is adding two new stores.
According to the family-owned and operated brand, locations are scheduled to open late July in Morristown (22 Schuyler Place) and late September in Midland Park (637 Godwin Ave.).
Over the past two decades, Mindy Mosca has grown her venture from a small kitchen operation into a thriving business. The concept currently has brick-and-mortar spaces in Norwood and Boca Raton, Fla. Mindy’s Munchies also sells its chocolate-dipped strawberries, pretzels, cookies and fudge through an online direct-to-consumer platform.
In addition to custom gift baskets and platters, Mindy’s Munchies hosts events, such as birthday parties and a ladies’ night out.
In Morristown, available services will include in-store pick-up and local delivery of handmade chocolates and specialty items. Midland Park will have the same options, as well as a flexible private party room designed for birthdays, small gatherings and local events.
Mindy’s Munchies plans to mark both store launches with community-centered events featuring limited-time specials, product samples and giveaways. Details will be announced closer to each grand opening via the brand’s website and social media channels.
Franchise flexibility
For Mindy’s Munchies, Morristown and Midland Park mark its fifth and sixth locations, respectively.
The company opened its first franchised spot in September 2024 in Falmouth, Maine. The brand also has a corporate-run shop in Boca Raton, Fla.
COO Harry Mosca, Mindy’s husband, told NJBIZ the idea for a franchise program was born out of the pandemic “when the niche food market was the next market boom for franchises.”
The company believes its success stems in part for rising demand for personalized, locally crafted food experiences. As larger retailers struggle to maintain customer loyalty, small-format, specialty brands like Mindy’s Munchies aim to attract consumers who value quality, freshness and authenticity.
According to Harry Mosca, the franchise model is crafted to offer franchisees the tools and support needed to succeed in the growing snack food industry.
With an initial investment of between $174,000 to $315,000, low overhead; established vendor relationships; and support with retail, marketing, merchandising and sales, the company believes it is setting owners up for success from day one.
“Our franchisees can personalize their locations based on local market conditions. This flexibility allows them to truly serve their communities in a way that works best for them,” Harry Mosca said.
Mindy’s Munchies’ long-term plans include expanding its footprint across New Jersey and exploring franchise opportunities in neighboring states. It also expects to continue investing in product innovation and community outreach initiatives.
CEO Mindy Mosca said, “Our mission has always been simple: make high-quality treats that bring people together. That’s what guides every new opening.”
