MADISON, Ala. – Two entrepreneurs are branching out into the sleep shop business through the acquisition of nine Bedzzz Express in Alabama and Georgia and will rebrand the stores under the Snooze Mattress moniker.

Jon Turman and Bryan Bell, managing partners of SleepWell LLC here, have acquired the nine stores from Dreamcraft LLC owned by Austin Bond. The other Bedzzz Express stores in Birmingham, Alabama, and Northern Alabama will remain under that name.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Turman and Bell, along with two other partners, opened a Snooze Mattress store here earlier this year as franchisees of the retail operation founded in 2019 in Pueblo, Colorado. The new stores are owned by Turman and Bell.

The just-acquired nine stores will be converted to Snooze stores giving the SleepWell team a total of 10 stores in the region with plans to open additional locations. The acquisition takes the total Snooze store network to 30.

Turman said he and Bell had been approached about acquiring some of the Bedzzz Express locations earlier this year. “We had drunk the Snooze Kool-Aid, and our game plan had always been to open additional stores,” Turman said, adding that the acquisition allows the company to move forward with growing at a quicker pace.

The new stores are located in strong, established locations, and Bell said conversion to the Snooze brand will begin immediately. “Our goal is to move as quickly as possible,” he said. “It will take a little bit of time, but consumers will notice the change in a few weeks.”

He said the majority of the new stores are well-merchandised and designed giving the team an easier path through the rebranding to meet the Snooze store specifications. Employees from the Bedzzz Express stores will transition to Snooze with the acquisition.

Matt Smith, president and CEO of Snooze, said Turman and Bell are the type of people that Snooze wants to partner with. “They not only talk the talk, but they walk the walk,” he said. “Like us, they are determined to disrupt the sleep game. I can’t brag enough about the mindset and energy they will bring to the organization.”

Snooze continues to expand its network of franchisees, Smith said, adding franchise opportunities are available. “We’re on a growth trajectory and looking forward to helping grow this industry,” Smith said.

Snooze currently has stores in nine states – Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Utah – and recently opened a store in Ireland. Plans are in place to open a number of stores in major markets in Texas and in New Mexico, Smith said. Snooze is on target to have 50 locations by the end of the year, the company said.
