The Bad Ass Coffee Company of Hawaii got it’s start on the Big Island of Hawaii in July 1989 as a popular spot where the locals enjoyed freshly roasted and brewed Kona coffee that was grown and harvested nearby.
Like all great secrets, it didn’t take long before the legend of Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii spread outside to adventurous tourists who sought out the first Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii location for the taste of pure Hawaiian culture.
We opened our first Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii store in Salt Lake City in May 1995 and followed by opening two more stores in the area by the end of that year. Since then, the brand has continued to grow attracting discerning coffee lovers who take their coffee seriously, but want to enjoy their coffee as they would if they were in Hawaii – in a memorable, playful and relaxing atmosphere.
In 2008, we trademarked Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii” leveraging the unique brand promise to deliver authentic Hawaiian grown coffees filled and a rich sense of the Aloha spirit, and began to franchise our stores - expanding across the US and Internationally with stores in Japan and the Virgin Islands.
