This business model was developed from Certified Inspections’ proven successful track record of decades of earning six figures with a one man operation. Although started as a home inspection business in the mid-90’s, Certified rapidly shifted into specializing in mold testing and over the past decade, has consistently grossed in the neighborhood of over  $150,000/year in sales on a part time basis with nearly no advertising or cold calling! About Mold
Mold is a fungus that can cause serious health problems in humans and pets and is prevalent throughout the world. Although it is everywhere in nature, when the levels inside a house or building are significantly higher than those outside, it can be a grave danger to humans and pets causing many illnesses. Most people are well aware of its health effects and desperately search for our services. The demand far exceeds the supply!

There are 2 businesses associated with mold problems – mold testing, also known as a mold assessment, and mold remediation, also known as abatement, cleaning or removal. This business only involves assessment and testing – no physical labor, and you can do the whole thing yourself – sales, field work and report writing.

While mold remediation requires crews of workers, trucks, tools, chemicals, high insurance and other costly overhead, mold testing can be done by one person with one piece of equipment and virtually no overhead, working out of your house and using your own car to drive to clients’ homes and buildings.

The Job
The beauty is in the simplicity. You book a job by phone or email. You drive to the job site, inspect the premises, take air and swab samples, Fedex them to a lab and then write and email a report to the client when the sample results return a couple days later. That’s it. No special vehicles, heavy equipment, cleaning or taxing physical labor. And no prior technical knowledge or science background is necessary. The most important skill one needs is sales acumen. The average job takes only 2 hours or so and you can walk away with hundreds to thousands of dollars!
